…but I absolutely forbid you to spend $39.95 on a 5lb gummy bear.
Yep – that’s a tough one! Are you ever going to tell him again he can spend it on anything he wants. In the end did he get it or not?
Stanley seems to accept an unsaid ‘within reason’ disclaimer on all of my decrees, which is handy. I persuaded him that he would get more fun out of spending that kind of money on a new game for his Wii, but I think he already knew that the thought of a giant gummy bear was probably better than the reality of actually trying to eat it! I guess these kind of conversations are one of the reasons why we give kids allowances in the first place.
That’s so funny, because my 15 year old mentioned really wanting a giant gummy bear. I didn’t reallize just how big they are, and I think she’s forgotten about it, but I think I’ll try to track one down for her 16th birthday. She’s disciplined enough not to eat it all in one sitting. At least I think so…
Pinned this on my pinterest and got many repins! What a hoot!
